Connects for PEX systems are not interchangeable and all require specific crimping or connecting tools.

PEX crimp connections
PEX crimp connections are a popular method for joining PEX tubing in plumbing systems. Here's a step-by-step guide to making a PEX crimp connection:
Cut the PEX tubing: Use a PEX cutter to ensure a smooth and even cut. Position the cutter at 90 degrees to the tubing.
Slide the PEX crimp ring: Slide the crimp ring over the tubing, approximately 2 inches past the end.
Insert the PEX fitting: Fully insert the PEX fitting into the tubing so that the fitting's shoulder touches the tubing.
Position the crimp ring: Position the crimp ring 1/4 to 1/8 inch from the end of the tubing, right above the fitting's barbs.
Crimp the ring: Open the jaws of the PEX crimp tool and position it over the crimp ring at 90 degrees to the tubing. Close the tool's jaws completely to crimp the ring.
Check the connection: Use a go-no-go gauge to ensure the connection is secure. If the connection doesn't gauge properly, use a decrimping tool to remove the crimp ring and redo the connection.

PEX Clamp Connections

Slide the PEX clamp ring: Slide a stainless steel PEX clamp ring over the tubing, positioning it roughly 2 inches from the end.
Insert the PEX fitting: Fully insert the PEX fitting into the tubing, ensuring that the tubing is flush against the fitting’s shoulder.

PEX Expansion Connecitons
PEX expansion connections are a reliable and secure method for joining PEX-A tubing. Here's a guide on how to make a PEX expansion connection:
Cut the PEX tubing: Use a PEX cutter to ensure a clean and straight cut. Make sure the cut is perpendicular to the tubing.
Expand the PEX tubing: Slide a PEX expansion ring onto the end of the tubing. Position the ring so it's flush with the end of the tubing.
Expand the tubing and ring: Use a PEX expansion tool to expand both the tubing and the ring. Insert the expansion tool's head into the tubing and squeeze the handles to expand the tubing. Rotate the tool slightly between expansions to ensure even expansion.
Insert the PEX fitting: Once the tubing and ring are expanded, quickly insert the PEX fitting into the tubing. The tubing will contract around the fitting, creating a secure connection.
Check the connection: Ensure the connection is secure by visually inspecting and gently tugging on the fitting.
PEX expansion connections are specifically designed for PEX-A tubing, as this type of PEX has the highest degree of flexibility and memory, allowing it to return to its original shape after expansion.
